Huang Jin Gui – Golden Osmanthus Oolong (黄金桂)
Fragrant Light Oolong from the Mountains of Anxi, Fujian
Golden fragrance, soft as dawn light.
Huang Jin Gui (黄金桂), or “Golden Osmanthus,” is a light and floral Anxi oolong tea grown in the rolling green hills of Fujian Province. Its name comes from the tea’s natural aroma, which closely resembles fresh osmanthus blossoms (桂花)—sweet, floral, and gently creamy.
Made from the Huang Dan (黄旦) cultivar, this tea is lightly oxidized and traditionally unroasted, offering a cup that is bright, smooth, and refreshing, with high floral aroma and a clean, golden liquor. A beautiful introduction to Anxi-style oolongs, it captures the elegance of spring.

Processing
Huang Jin Gui is produced using the light-hand Anxi oolong tradition:
- Plucking – One bud with two tender leaves
- Withering – Brief sun withering and indoor cooling
- Tossing & Oxidation – Light bruising induces delicate oxidation
- Fixation – Heat applied to stop oxidation while preserving aroma
- Rolling & Drying – Leaves are rolled into tight balls and dried slowly
No roasting is applied, keeping the fragrance light and floral—a tea of the flower’s essence rather than the fire’s.

Cultural Significance
Huang Jin Gui is one of the Four Famous Anxi Oolongs (四大名枞), alongside Tieguanyin. While Tieguanyin is deeper and more roasted, Huang Jin Gui is bright, floral, and graceful—a favorite for spring and summer sessions.
Its name means "Golden Osmanthus", yet no flowers are added. The fragrance comes purely from the leaf—a tribute to nature’s subtle alchemy.
Beloved in southern China and across Taiwan, this tea is a symbol of fragrance, elegance, and feminine beauty.
